Advice

Woodland Advocates become knowledgeable about local forestry issues and can give a landowners’ perspective about those issues. They approach situations by listening more than speaking. They know their limitations, but can give suggestions and opinions based on their experience. They do not have all the answers, but they direct others to reputable resources for the answers.

Advocates volunteer their time because they believe in helping others and they have passion for woodlands. They receive reimbursement for their travel and expenses. They meet periodically with other Advocates to receive additional training and to support each other. They can help create local resources if needed by their neighbors. Advocates may share their enthusiasm about their membership in other organizations, but they do not let that enthusiasm interfere with their role as an Advocate to help keep Wisconsin’s woodlands healthy.
